Jeev Kadgi Podi |
Simple and quick side dish for rice jeev kadgi podi mixed in chilly powder and asafoetida powder(hing).
Konkani people just adore jeev kadgi. Various konkani cuisines are prepared using bread fruit like jeev kadgi podi,Masala items like-jeev kadgi ghashi,jeev kadgi buthi and jeev kadgi sukke,upkari,snacks-jeev kadgi chips and so on.
When it comes to jeev kadgi we amchi people just crave for jeev kadgi.
Note- Bread fruit fry tastes great if you keep to marinate for 2hours. As the masala coats well it tastes very good.
For instance preparation you can marinate for 15-30min. Marination for 15min is compulsory.
Serves - 4 (12-15 pieces)

Ingredients
Bread fruit | 1 (medium sized) |
Kashmiri chilly powder | 2-3 tbsp |
Asafoetida powder | 3/4 tsp |
Semolina(rava)/Rice coarse powder | 1/2 cup |
Water | 1/4 cup |
Salt | As per taste |
Oil | 3-4 tbsp |
Method
- Peel the skin of breadfruit and slice into medium thickness . Thickeness should be medium sized not too thick not too thin.
- In a bowl, add red chilly powder(kashmiri),salt and asafoetida powder to bread fruit slices mix well.
- Add little/sprinkle water and mix well. Keep aside for 15min.
- Heat a tawa,add oil, dip bread fruit slices in bombay rava/coarse rice powder and place on tawa(low flame).
- Add oil and close the lid.
- Cook for 2 minutes on medium flame.
- Then sprinkle some water and again cook for 2 min on low flame and close lid.
- Next add some oil and flip them and cook for another minute.
- Ready to serve.
