Presenting Pomfret masala tawa fry. My mother prepares delicious fish dishes.
Pomfret is marinated and tawa fried with a tadka on it.
Serves - 4 people
Ingredients:
Pomfret - 4 (medium sized)Lemon to serve
For masala
- Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
- Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Garlic pods - 4
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Byadgi chilly - 5 (less spice,gives good color)
- Short chilly - 5 (guntur chilly)
- Tamarind - 1 small piece
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp

Cleaning the fish
- Wash 4 pomfret with water. We are cleaning the fish by scissors (It is easy to cut any size fish by scissors. Fish scales can be easily removed with this scissor)
- Once you are done with cleaning fish, make slight cut on both sides.
For masala preparation
- In a mixy grinder and add
- 1 tbsp grated coconut,
- 1tbsp coriander seeds,
- 1 tsp jeera,
- 4 garlic pods,
- 1inch ginger,
- 5 byadgi chilly,
- 4 short chilly,
- 1 small piece Tamarind,
- add little water and grind to fine paste.
- Transfer the masala into a bowl.
- Add 1 tsp salt,1/2 tsp turmeric powder mix well.
- Apply the masala to each fish. Rest it for 30 min.
- Heat a pan, add 2 tbsp oil, 1 tsp mustard seed. Let it splutter then add 1 sprig curry leaves .
- Place the fish on pan and add 1 cup masala water, 1 tbsp coriander leaves.
- Close the lid and cook on high flame for 3-4 min.
- Remove the lid and flip the fish and cook on other side. Cook on high flame till the water reduces completely.
- Ready to serve Pomfret masala tawa fry.
- Tastes super delicious when served with lemon juice.
