Brined raw jackfruit pepper fry is super easy dish prepared from brinned jackfruit and it is tossed in black pepper.

This dish is made during karthika maasa in Srimath Anantheswar Temple, Manjeshwar, Kerala.
In karthik maasa chilly, lentils, grains are not used. All the prasada is prepared from black pepper.
Raw banana pepper stir fry and brined mango gojju(smashed brined raw mango) are also made.

Please note: As I was a big fan of pepper curry made in temple thought to give it a try. And this dish resembles with the temple taste.

Serves: 2 people

Ingredients

  1. Brined jackfruit - 2 fistful
  2. Black pepper - 1 tbsp (coarse powder)
  3. Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
  4. Water - half cup
  5. Ghee - 2 tbsp
  6. Here do not add salt as brined jackfruit has salt.

  1. In a bowl, take 2 fistful jackfruit and add water and allow to rest for 30 min. This will allow extra salt to dilute in water, if you don't do this curry will be salty.
  2. Discard water and chop length wise.
  3. In a pan, pour 2 tbsp ghee (you can also use oil), 1 tbsp coarse black pepper powder, 1 tbsp grated coconut, mix well and add in chopped jackfruit.
  4. Pour half cup water and close lid, cook till soft.
  5. Ready to serve. This recipe serves 2 people.
