Tambur is a simple recipe that can be prepared in 15 minutes.
Tambur is made from fresh jackfruit seeds and Mangalore cucumber pressure cooked together and seasoned with garlic and dry chilly.
Serves: 4 peope
Ingredients
Mangalore cucumber - small sized
Fresh jackfruit seeds - 2 fistful
Water - 1 cup
Salt as per taste
Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
Garlic pods - 5 to 6
Dry chilly - 3
Method
First crush jackfruit seeds into 2 and remove seeds. Place it in water.
Peel mangalore cucumber and remove it's seed portion. Chop in cubes.
In a pressure cooker place crushed jackfruit seeds, chopped Mangalore cucumber, pour 1 cup water and salt as per taste. Pressure cook for 5 whistles on medium flame.
After the pressure is released check if the jackfruit seeds are cooked well.
For seasoning, in a pan add 2 tbsp coconut oil, crushed 5-6 garlic pods, fry till golden brown and add 3 dry chilly pieces. Turn off the flame.
Season it and cook for 1 minute.
Turn off the flame and serve hot with steamed rice(rice porridge).
