Tambur

Tambur and steamed rice(porridge) 
Tambur is a simple recipe that can be prepared in 15 minutes.
Tambur is made from fresh jackfruit seeds and Mangalore cucumber pressure cooked together and seasoned with garlic and dry chilly. 

Serves: 4 peope

Ingredients

  1. Mangalore cucumber - small sized
  2. Fresh jackfruit seeds - 2 fistful
  3. Water - 1 cup
  4. Salt as per taste
  5. Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
  6. Garlic pods - 5 to 6
  7. Dry chilly - 3

Method

  1. First crush jackfruit seeds into 2 and remove seeds. Place it in water.
  2. Peel mangalore cucumber and remove it's seed portion. Chop in cubes.
  3. In a pressure cooker place crushed jackfruit seeds, chopped Mangalore cucumber, pour 1 cup water and salt as per taste. Pressure cook for 5 whistles on medium flame.
  4. After the pressure is released check if the jackfruit seeds are cooked well. 
  5. For seasoning, in a pan add 2 tbsp coconut oil, crushed 5-6 garlic pods, fry till golden brown and add 3 dry chilly pieces. Turn off the flame. 
  6. Season it and cook for 1 minute.
  7. Turn off the flame and serve hot with steamed rice(rice porridge).
