Potato Tawa Fry

Batate Podi
I call it lazy day recipe. I usually make batate podi when I am super lazy to cook. Potato is also called as aloo in Hindi, alugadde in Kannada and batato in Konkani language. Potato is a easy to go buddy that goes with anything and everything. Let's make simple yet delicious potato fry.
You can eat this as snack or with rice as sides.

Note: Once you peel the potato use it as soon as possible. If there is any delay make sure you keep it in water to avoid blackening.

Serves

Ingredients

  1. Potato - 4 (250 gram)
  2. Kashmiri chilly powder - 3 tsp
  3. Spicy chilly powder - ½ tsp
  4. Asafoetida powder - ½ tsp
  5. Salt as per taste
  6. Water - ¼ cup (add less water)
  7. Bombay rava - ½ cup
  8. Oil - 5 to 6 tbsp

Method

  1. In a bowl, add both chilly powder, salt, asafoetida, little water and give it a good mix. Add little litlle water and make thick paste.
  2. Peel the potato skin, make medium thick slice and marinate with the paste. Keep aside for 5 min.
  3. Heat a tawa, add few drops of oil and spread the oil all over the tawa.
  4. Dip the marinated potato in bombay rava and place it on tawa.
  5. Close lid and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on low flame. 
  6. Poke and check whether it has cooked well. Flip and pour few drops of oil and cook on low flame for 2 more minutes.
  7. Serve hot with rice and Daalithoy(dal curry)
