Peanut chutney powder and Kadak jowar roti |
Shenga Chutney Podi is a dry chutney powder made from peanut/groundnut.
Shenga chutney pudi is quite famous in North Karnataka and is served with kadak jowar roti and curd. This also goes well with dosa, chapati, rice and parappu, or just mix with curd lip smacking...!
Whenever I feel like having junk food I just make this and have with curd. Just yum!
Self Life - 2 weeks
Ingredients
- Peanut - 1 cup (250 gram)
- Garlic pods - 10
- Kashmiri chilly powder - 5 tsp
- Spicy chilly powder - 1 tsp
- Salt - 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
Method
- On a thick bottom pan add 250 gram peanut and dry roast on low flame till the color changes(takes 10 min).
- Turn off the flame, transfer it to a plate and allow it to cool down.
- Take a fistful of peanut and rub the palm against each other. Separate the peel. You need not peel completely.
- In a mixy jar, add 10 garlic pods (with skin), peeled peanut, 5 tsp kashmiri chilly powder, 1 tsp spicy chilly powder, 1 tbsp salt, ¼ tsp turmeric powder. Grind to coarse powder.
- Allow it to cool down and store it in a air tight container. Finish it in 2 weeks.
