Benda gojju (okra salad) |
Here is a easy recipe of lady finger my grandma used to make. Learnt it from my mother hope you will try and like it.
Main ingredient lady finger(okra) and curd.
Note:
- Do not use sour curd. Always taste the curd before using. I prefer milky mist or jersey curd.
- Green chilly used are less spicy so adding 4 no. you can add less.
- Lady finger are slimy so I mashed it with the help of spoon. You can mash them with your hands before adding curd for more flavor.
- If salad is remaining refrigerate it and finish it within a day.
Serves - 3 people
Ingredients
- Lady finger - 4 to 5 (100 gram)
- Thick curd - 5 tbsp
- Grated coconut - 1 to 2 tbsp
- Green chilly - 4 (less spicy)
- Salt - 1 tbsp and 1 tsp (add according to your taste)
- Water - half cup to cook lady finger(add less as possible)
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Mustard seed - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Method
- Wash the 100 gram(5) lady finger and chop them to 1 inch.
- In a thick bottomed vessel add chopped lady finger and pour water till it immerses. Add less water, we are going to dry the water out on low flame.
- When lady finger changes it's color it means it has cooked. Let the water dry out completely. Allow it to cool down.
- In a mortar and pestle, add 1 to 2 tbsp fresh grated coconut, 4 green chilly, 1 tsp salt crush them roughly. Transfer it into a bowl.
- Add 5 tbsp of thick curd, lady finger and mash them with spoon or mash with hands before adding curd. Mix well. Add salt if required.
- Give it a tempering of oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves.
- Serve as side dish with rice.
- Refrigerate if salad is remaining and finish within a day.
