Ripe Nendran Banana Fry |
The Nendran banana, also known as the Kerala banana, is a unique variety that is primarily grown in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Raw nendran banana is made to make banana chips.
During my childhood, my mother used to make this delicious recipe that I enjoyed so much. Remembering those days, I'm posting the recipe here. You can make it spicy or plain.
Serves - 2
Ingredients
- Ripe nendran - 300 gram (2)
- Salt powder - ½ tbsp
- Chilli powder - ¼ tsp
- Asafoetida powder - ¼ tsp
- Semolina - ¼ cup (bombay rava)
- Ghee - 3 tbsp
Method
- Peel the ripe nendran banana. Divide the banana into 3 parts and cut them into half.
- Add it in a bowl, salt as per taste, asafoetida powder mix well. If you are making this for an adult you can add chilli powder or mash 1 green chilli to it. Keep aside for a minute.
- Heat the tawa, dip the banana in semolina and coat it well. Place them on tawa. Add 2 tbsp ghee, close lid and cook on low flame for 2 minutes. Open the lid, flip the banana and cook for a minute by adding 1 tbsp ghee on to it.
- Ready to serve hot as snack. Kids will definitely love it.
- Happy cooking!
