Batate Thovve(Batate Thoy)

Batate Thovve/Batate Pejje Upkari made using potato with  tempering of mustard seeds,curry leaves and dry red chilly.

Serves: 3 People

Ingredients

 Potato 2 (Medium )
 Water       2 cups
 Salt  2 tsp
 Oil 1 tbsp
 Mustard seeds  1 tsp
 Curry leaves 1 sprig
 Dry red chilly 3 (long)


Method


  1. Wash the potatoes in water and peel the skin.
  2. Add two cups of water in a vessel.
  3. Finely chop the potato.
  4. Add the chopped potato into the vessel and start to cook.
  5. Add 2 tsp of salt and boil for 4-5 minutes.
  6. After 4-5 min, Check whether your potato has cooked or not.
  7. Using a masher, gently mash the potato. It is done so that potato binds nicely with water.
  8. Add 1 green chilly and turn off the flame. We are adding green chilly just for the flavor. We don't want its spiciness.
  9. For tempering,add 1 tbsp of oil.
  10. Add 1 tsp of mustard seeds.
  11. After it splutters add curry leaves and dry red chilly.
  12. After sometime add 3/4th tsp asafoetida powder.Secret of tempering is you should keep temper on low flame till dry red chilly turns light black brownish in color.The taste of this tempering is nice and different.
  13. Close the lid and after sometime serve. This curry goes good with rice and coriander leaves gojju.
